Around the first of the year, most of us vow to shape up by summer. Aldi, of course, anticipates that demand and offers a number of products for getting fit and staying that way.
While you won't find large equipment like treadmills and elliptical machines, Aldi does offer a mini-trampoline, workout bar, dumbbells, yoga mats and exercise balls, a pedal exerciser, ankle/wrist weights, resistance tubing, a digital kitchen scale and a body fat scale.
To help you eat right, Aldi's Fit & Active brand features yogurt, egg whites, turkey bacon, low-fat granola, meal bars, salad dressings, ice cream bars and sandwiches and tons of snack items.
If you have ongoing health care concerns, Aldi can be a super alternative to the regular pharmacies. Particularly, if you're on a limited budget or don't have Medicaid coverage. Items like lumbar cushions, blood pressure monitors, digital thermometers, folding canes, magnifying glass, bath & shower chair, heating pads, reading glasses and incontinence bed pads.
As mentioned before, Aldi makes some items available only at certain times of the year. Watch the sales circulars and be ready to get great deals.
Remember, these special buys items are typically on the shelves until they're sold out.
A great example of an Aldi steal: In March 2011, a Welby 4-wheel rolling walker was featured. The walker has a basket, cane holder, reflectors and a cushioned seat, with a 300 lb. weight capacity.
The price was $64.99. At my neighborhood store, in June, there were a couple of walkers left over from the March special buy. They were marked down by 50%, to only $34.99! Hard to find elsewhere for less than $90 - and that's on sale.
You can also find everyday pharmacy items like supplements (fish oil, glucosamine, multi-vitamins, children's vitamins and calcium), pain relievers (ibuprofen, acetaminophen), allergy relief, antacids and anti-diarrhea tablets.
When you're ready to shape up and get fit, remember Aldi!
